Surface Waves (MASW)

They are mechanical waves that propagate along the interface between different media. The survey is based on the geometric dispersion of the surface waves; the analysis of the dispersion characteristics allows the mechanical properties of the ground to be determined. In particular, it is possible to obtain vertical profiles of the velocity of propagation of the shear waves.

 

Application fields: quarries and mines, civil and industrial design, seismic hazard, geology and hydrogeology, exploration

Il profilo S1 (Vs30 = 310 m/s) è in grado di fornire informazioni fino a circa 55 m di profondità, a differenza di S2 (Vs30 = 360 m/s), la cui profondità di indagine è limitata a 30 m.
